"Milky sea" turns Pingtan beach blue

According to the scientists, the fluorescence caused by noctiluca scientillans after dark would not only be visible on the beach, but also on the surface of the sea, and a large amount of this species could make the sea water appear pink even during the daytime.

Whatever the cause, Tang was glad simply to be able to witness the rare sight.

"I have just come here for two months and feel so lucky to see such a beautiful scene," said Tang.
