Overseas Chinese Town Group (OCT), which specializes in tourism, real estate and telecoms, sent a delegation to Pingtan to seek out cooperation opportunities, on Sept 5, reported Pingtan Times.

Headed by OCT general manager, Duan Xiannian, the group visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone's planning exhibition hall, an afforestation project named "Happiness Forest", as well as local villages.

At a ceremony to welcome the delegation, Zhang Zhaomin, Party chief of Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone, said that Pingtan is building itself into an international tourism island.

"OCT has abundant expertise in the tourism industry," Zhang said. "The two sides should take advantage of the opportunity to cooperate with each other, jointly pushing forward the county's development."

Duan said Pingtan boasts unparalleled geographic advantages and a broad scope for development.

OCT is a large-scale state-owned enterprise subordinate to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC).
