Pingtan, an island city situated in South China's Fujian province, is taking full advantage of its national promotion tour sponsored by Fujian Tourism Administration, to promote its scenic spots and unique local delicacies.

In its latest stop in Beijing on Aug 31, the very best of Pingtan was on display to entice Beijingers, such as its beautiful beaches and clear blue waters.

"It is not the first time for the city to promote its tourism in Beijing," said Chen Ling, a staff member at the Pingtan Tourism Administration, "But there are still plenty of local residents who are fascinated by Pingtan's sunshine, beaches and unique culture."

At the promotional event, local residents in Beijing were impressed by Pingtan's abundant eco-tourism resources, tourism products and travel routes.

The event was broadcast live online and attracted an Internet audience in excess of 1.2 million.
