Luxury brands such as Givenchy, Prada and Valentino are placed on the European boutique department on the first floor. The second floor houses quality products from a dozen of countries, including Japan, South Korea and the United States.

The shopping center has larger space, in comparison to similar shopping centers in Guangzhou, and the products are well sorted according to country or region, Mr. Shao, who is from Guangzhou in Guangdong province, said after visiting the center during his vacation in Pingtan.

The products for sale at the European boutique department were purchased from Europe directly and enjoyed the favorable tax policies the Pingtan free trade zone provides, according to Luo Bing, who made a serious investment in the European boutique department.

Xie Fei, the general manager of the New Silk Road Development Co that is running the center, said they plan to set up procurement bases in Europe and Australia to save logistical costs. The company also plans to establish an online shopping site and a mobile client in the future.
