The main structure of the Student Entrepreneurship Center at the Fujian Polytechnic of Information Technology's Pingtan campus,which is currently under construction, is about to complete, ptnet.cn reported on June 21.

Work will soon begin on the plumbing, fire escapes and decorating, said Lin Xingyun, manager of the 14 million yuan ($2.1 million) project.

The centercovers a combined floor area of 3,500 square meters and is designed to be a vocational and entrepreneurship training base for students on the yet to be completed campus.

The leader of the college explained that setting up such a place in the grounds is a response to the country's call for mass entrepreneurship as well as to help young people find a better job after graduation.

Situated in Pingtan'sZhonglou township, the entire campus covers an area of 800 mu (53 hectares) and when completed will consist of three zones of teaching, living and sports.

The campus plans to enroll 10,000 full-time students and will offer vocational training and adult education to some14,000.

Local authorities pointed out that the landing of the campus is of great significance for Pingtan's development in higher vocational education.
