A delegation from the Taiwan Cross-Straits Medical Interchange Association recently paid a visit to the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province, to investigate the latest development of a Pingtan-Taiwan traditional Chinese medicinal materials trading center, ptnet.cn reported on May 23.

The project got approval from the National Development and Reform Commission and was launched by Fujian Province Pharmaceutical Group.

The project covers an electronic trading center, a logistics and warehousing center, an inspection and testing center, a financial center, an exhibition area, and a processing and production center, aiming to serve as a convenient and vital channel for the mainland's traditional Chinese medicine to reach Taiwan and for Taiwan's health products to reach the mainland.

During their visit, the delegates attended a meeting with local officials and gained a better understanding of Pingtan's business environment, preferential policies and the progress of the trading center.

The delegation spoke highly of the local government's support of the medicinal materials trading center project and expressed their intent to work with Fujian Province Pharmaceutical Group on the project.

The two sides also discussed the feasibility of establishing a cross-Straits TCM healthcare industrial park.
