The China National Democratic Construction Association has launched a cutural forum in Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ), Fujian province, on May 5, to discuss the zone's tourism and cultural development, ptnet.cn reported.

Many government leaders and experts participated in the forum and analysed the current development of China's cultural industry. They also exchanged ideas about ways to promote Pingtan's cultural sector.

Lin Jiangling, deputy director of PCPZ's adminstrative committee, attended the forum and emphasized the important role of culture in Pingtan's development.

Lin said that the forum offers new development opportunities to the zone's cultural industry and expected that the experts will help foster its cultural projects and increase its soft power.

The association, which has set up a branch in Pingtan, also hoped that the forum enables the experts and its members to know more about Pingtan and invest in the zone. It also wanted to help boost the zone's cultural industry and reach its goal of becoming an international tourist destination.

Founded in 1945, the association is one of China's eight legally recognised political parties that follow the direction of the Communist Party of China and is member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Its members are chief entrepreneurs from the manufacturing, financial, or commercial industries in both private and state sectors.
