A total of three projects in Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone were listed among this year's key provincial investment projects for Fujian province, according to a list released by the provincial development and reform commission on April 25.

The developments cover a high-tech park, a maternity and child health hospital and a commercial center for headquarters economy, all to be built in the zone in the coming year.

The Pingtan High-Tech Park is located in Lancheng district and will occupy an area of 9.5 square kilometers, attracting a total investment of 3 billion yuan ($461.6 million). The park is aimed at being a high-tech industrial complex, integrating technology and tourism industries.

The Pingtan Maternity and Child Health Hospital will cover a combined floor area of 60,000 square meters and has attracted 500 million yuan in investment.

The Pingtan Commercial Center for  Headquarters Economy will cover 130,000 sq m, with an investment of 3.7 billion yuan. The center aims to become a central business district for housing, financial, commercial, administrative, cultural, and service institutions. The provincial development and reform commission selected the projects from key fields such as pillar industries, emerging industries, modern services and modern agriculture.

The undertakings are considered to be in line with national industrial policies. Also, they are expected to yield a higher return on investment, as they enjoy strong industrial foundations and rich resources.
