The state tax revenue in Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province hit a record high with exceeding 500 million yuan ($76 million) in 2015, local news portal ptnet.cn reported.

The local state tax department claimed that it received an accumulative total of more than 550 million yuan in 2015, a year-on-year increase of 17.92 percent.

The total revenue consisted of 227-million-yuan value-added tax, 252-million-yuan corporate income tax, 53.6-million-yuan vehicle purchase tax, and 17.6-million-yuan tax collected by the Customs.

The tax authorities said that the revenue has quintupled compared with the number of 100 million yuan in 2009 when the zone was established.

The driving force behind this tax increase came from four local industries, which are software and information technology, communications and transportation, leasing and commercial services as well as construction.

With Pingtan's business and investment environment being better and better, more entrepreneurs came to the zone to start or expand their businesses. So, the number of tax payers in the zone has been on the rise.

By the end of December 2015, the zone's tax payers exceeded 10,000. And about 66 percent of them were enterprises.
