The combo, which comes in small sausage in large sausage, is a snack from Taiwan since the late 20th century. A piece of Taiwan pork sausage is wrapped in a slightly bigger and fatter sticky rice sausage for this delicacy, usually served char-grilled.

To make it tastier, vendors also add slices of cucumbers as well as special sauce between the sausages, which has enticed more foodies.

Jian Jianxiong, who comes from Kaohsiung in Taiwan and now operates the booth selling the sausage combo, said he has been selling more than 400 sausage combos a day. And customers begin lining up in front of the booth as early as 6 am.

“The sausage booth is the first booth at the market, and with decent taste, no doubt there are so many buyers going for it,” said Ms Liu, a customer.

The turnover easily reaches more than 10,000 yuan per day, according to Deng Zongchu, chief accountant at the market.

Other popular Taiwan snacks at the market include grilled chicken cutlet, meat rolls, ice drinks as well as shell and shrimp bars, he added.

The Taiwan Night Market opened on June 14. The business is to flourish even more as more tourists will visit Pingtan during summer vacation, said insiders.
