The construction of customs facilities at a commodity trade market opening to Taiwan in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone is basically finished and ready for inspection by central authorities, Pingtan Times reported on May 14.

The key customs facilities are a smart checkpoint, with video surveillance, a warehouse as well as an information management system.

“Six of 12 detection equipment at the smart checkpoint have been installed, the customs warehouse is built, and workers are debugging the video surveillance system,” said Wu Guojun, quality director of the project.

Nearly 400 cameras have been set up at the commodity trade market at the request of the customs department, according to an employee at the market.
