An economic and trade delegation from the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) paid a tour to Taiwan from March 28 to April 3, in an attempt to promote Pingtan’s brand and cross-Straits communications.

The delegation was comprised of some senior government officials including Li Dejin, director of PCPZ’s administrative committee, and Chen Dongrong and Liang Qinlong – both deputy directors.

In the week-long stay, Li and his entourage put footprints in a number of enterprises, financial institutions, ports in cities like Kaohsiung, Taichuang, Hsingchu and Taipei, and visited local government officials, celebrated politicians and industrial leaders.

The promotional tour has seen a slew of partnership deals inked by Pingtan and its counterpart cities in Taiwan. Many enterprises also showed interest in investing in a variety of fields in Pingtan.

Pingtan Times hailed Li’s tour ‘a new chapter for cross-Straits relations’.
