A group of government officials in Pingtan county, Fujian province, who are about to be promoted to division-level officials, sat an open book test on Dec 30 concerning their knowledge of methods to fight corruption, and the Pingtan Times said that all the officials passed the test.

A government circular in 2013 stated that cadres over the age of 50 - and who are set to be promoted - will have to take the exam, and they have to score at least 80 out of 100 in order to pass. The score will be recorded in their profiles and those who fail the test will not be promoted.
