On Tuesday, May 7, Polly Crathorne, a 19-year-old kite surfer from Britain, spent a special birthday in Pingtan county, Fujian province, host of this year's international kitesurfing event.

Polly arrived in Pingtan to compete in the 2012-13 Kiteboard Tour Asia, where she made new Chinese friends who threw her a birthday party on April 7.

Chen Jingle, a Chinese athlete competing at the event, hosted the party at her house and gave a necklace to Polly with her name engraved on it.

"So sweet," was Polly's response to the gift as she hugged Chen. The two met during past KTA events.

Chen also taught the British guest how to make dumplings, which was the most fun according to Polly.

"This time the KTA is taking place in Pingtan. As a Pingtan local I feel obligated to treat her," said Chen.
