The Plum Blossom Prize, awarded by the China Theatre Association, is the highest theatrical award in China.

"The play has prominent Fujian opera features, and its characters also share distinctive characteristics. With such a wonderful play and great support from the professionals in the circle, I believe it will become a hit, bringing audience an audiovisual extravaganza," Chen said.

The opera has been rehearsing in Pingtan since May, and tonight we'll see if the highly-anticipated drama becomes the spectacular hit it is expected to become.
