Pingtan holds open water swimming race

The 2017 Pingtan Open Water Swimming Tournament made a splash in Pingtan, Fujian province on June 22.

A total of 668 swimmers from across the country took part in the race. The event, which has been held for two consecutive years, is composed of two parts: A freestyle swimming event and a 1,000-meter open-water race.

Swimmers who took part in the 1,000-meter open-water race were divided into male and female groups, each split into five groups according to their ages.

Chen Yiman, an 18-year-old from Pingtan, seized the title in the female 18-34 group 1,000-meter race despite being the youngest participant in her group.
