A delegation from Northwest China's Qinghai province headed by Ma Zhiwei, vice chairman of the Qinghai Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited Fujian province's Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, on Dec 4.

The delegation sought to learn about the zone's economic development and to deepen exchange and cooperation in the areas of commerce, trade and tourism.

The delegation was given a tour of Pingtan's most successful projects including Pingtan Closure, an integrated customs supervision and management system, Taiwan Innovation Park, the New Silk Road Cross-border Trade Center, and Pingtan-Taiwan Duty-Free Commodity Market.

The tour helped the Qinghai officials to understand more about Pingtan's favorable geographic location, its preferential policies, and close trade links with Taiwan.

The officials were impressed by the rapid development that has been achieved by Pingtan in recent years, particularly in regards to infrastructure, transportation, trade with Taiwan, and the ability to develop the area into an international tourist destination.

The group from Qinghai expressed the hope that Pingtan and Qinghai could strengthen cooperative ties and work towards a brighter future.
