Pingtan, Fujian province, set up two pavilions at the 18th Cross-Straits Fair for Economy and Trade held in the city of Fuzhou from May 18 to 22, in order to promote its Taiwan Town and Taiwan Innovation Park.

Taiwan Town, formerly known as the Pingtan-Taiwan Duty-Free Commodity Market, mainly displays and sells Taiwan specialties such as food, cooking oil, meat, clothing, handicrafts and medicine.

Its pavilion at the fair covered an area of 90 square meters and aimed to introduce Taiwan products to more people. Nearly 30 of its shop owners went to the fair and displayed their products.

The Taiwan Innovation Park serves as an entrepreneurship base for young entrepreneurs from Taiwan. Its pavilion is expected to help increase the exposure of its companies.

Thanks to the Taiwan characteristics, the Pingtan pavilions were quite popular among visitors, who were attracted by the abundant varieties of Taiwan products.

The Cross-Straits Fair for Economy and Trade is an annual event in Fujian province that began in 1999. This year, the event has more than 5,300 booths in a venue of 120,000 square meters. One of its highlights is a 9,000-square-meter exhibition area where enterprises at the Fujian Free Trade Zone can showcase themselves and market their products.
