Pingtan shall make efforts to become a hub for coastal tourism, said Zheng Weirong, deputy director of Fujian Tourism Bureau.

The remark was made during Zheng's visit to Pingtan on May 13 and 14, to inspect the latest development of the zone's key tourism projects.

Zheng also gave recognition to the zone's progress in tourism over the past few years and vowed that the provincial tourism bureau will give full support to its tourism sector.

The deputy director also hoped that Pingtan will take advantage of its unique coastal tourism resources, such as sea, beaches, and sea-erosion landforms, as well as the preferential policies to make it a demonstration area of coastal tourism.

Xie Xiutong, member of Pingtan's Party working committee, expressed gratitude to the provincial bureau's continuous support. Xie also said that local authorities will make better plans for the tourism industry and will focus on building some coastal tourist sites that appeal to visitors.
