Xu Weize, director of Pingtan's administrative committee, went to Jinjingwan area on May 10, to inspect the progress of a cross-border e-commerce project there.

The project was planned to be done in two stages. The first stage covers the construction of a cross-border e-commerce bonded exhibition and trading center. The center is now near completion and workers are proceeding with its decoration.

The second stage includes the establishment of an online shop for cross-border goods.

Xu pointed out the important role of cross-border e-commerce in Pingtan's industrial development. He urged local departments to work together to ensure that the project will be completed on time, which may serve as a driving force for local cross-border e-commerce.

The project came from local authorities' idea to boost cross-border e-commerce, due to Pigntan's status as a pilot city of cross-border e-commerce.

The authorities added that they want to turn Pingtan into China's leading pilot area for cross-border e-commerce in the near future.
