Pingtan celebrates International Women's Day

Institutions and communities in Pingtan, Fujian province organized a number of events for local female workers to mark the coming International Women's Day, which falls on March 8 every year, news portal ptnet.cn reported on March 7.

Local media center joined hands with the China Construction Bank Pingtan branch to hold a competition of making dumplings. Female staff members worked in groups and were required to make dumplings as more as possible within half an hour. Finally, a team won the first place by making 390 ones.

In addition, they also organized a lecture to teach female workers skills of making up to help them become more beautiful and increase their confidence.

Bailu community worked together with a power supply company and invited experts to teach female residents techniques of flower arrangement. It was done to encourage the female people to develop more hobbies and seek self-improvement.

And Yuanmen community hosted an award ceremony to give prizes to local female residents who made contributions to the family harmony. The prizes included “Good Daughter”, “Good Daughter-in-law”, “Good Mother”, “Good Wife” and few others.

The organizers said that they want to encourage citizens to learn from those roles models and call on them to carry forward the traditional Chinese virtues, such as respect for the elderly and love for the young.
