To enable more people to get familiar with the county's splendid tourism resources, the Pingtan tourism development bureau launched a tourism promotion campaign in the city of Xiamen, Fujian province, on Feb 21, according to ptnet.cn.

The promotion event included travel route recommendations, local delicacies displays, art performances, creative culture and landscape exhibitions.

The performances in particular, featuring Pingtan's natural and cultural elements, attracted a large number of audience. The exhibitions presented the county's tourist sites and beautiful scenery.

Chen Lin, an official with the tourism bureau explained that the event aimed to give people in Xiamen a better understanding of Pingtan's scenic spots, culture and customs, urban construction, and increase its influence as an international tourist destination.

This was also an opportunity to enhance tourist business cooperation between the two areas, since Xiamen's travel agencies and merchants were invited to attend the event, added Chen.

Some visitors said that through the event they now know Pingtan better and its tourism sites quite appeal to them.
