Pingtan Port in Fujian province received more than 3,000 inbound and outbound visitors during the Spring Festival holiday between Feb 7 and 13, announced officials with local exit and entry frontier inspection station on Feb 13.

The surge of visitors resulted from the improved and convenient ship routes between Pingtan and Taiwan.

Now, more and more Taiwan compatriots are coming to the Chinese mainland via Pingtan to visit relatives and friends or expand businesses. Many mainland tourists also favored to take ferries at the Pingtan Port to travel there.

To ensure all the tourists to get the best services during the week-long holiday, authorities with the inspection station had also rolled out some innovative measures, which made it easier and faster for the visitors to deal with clearance procedures.

For instance, they launched fast track services for visitors in group. They also gave priority to a special group of people such as the elderly, the differently abled and pregnant women.
