Local tax revenue of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province exceeded 2 billion yuan ($308 million) in 2015, up 22.53 percent year-on-year and about five times of the number in 2009 when the zone was established, according to its local tax bureau.

The surge of local tax income was a direct result of the bureau's continuous efforts to support local small and micro-sized enterprises and high-tech start-ups, claimed an official.

Statistics show that the zone got nearly 2,000 more enterprises in 2015, which included over 1,600 Chinese companies and 300 foreign-funded companies. These enterprises contributed to the increase of local taxation.

The experts say that the bureau took advantages of the zone's preferential policies and carries out a series of supportive measures to help local companies develop better and attract more companies to move in the zone.
