A delegation from the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) led by its executive secretary Wang Chunfa visited Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone in Fujian province to learn about the zone's latest development, local news portal ptnet.cn reported on Dec 27.

Wang toured the Planning Exhibition Hall, the Aoqian High-Speed Passenger Terminal, the Pingtan-Taiwan Duty-Free Commodity Market, the Haitan Ancient City and the Haiyu Plaza to gain a better understanding of Pingtan's overall planning and opening up.

After the tour, the executive secretary promised that CAST will continue to support the zone's development and help it with scientific innovation in order to enhance its status as an experimental zone for cross-Straits cooperation.

The CAST, established in 1958, is China's largest non-governmental organization of scientific and technological workers. The association had a mission to boost the country's development of science and technology, and enhance science literacy of the entire nation.
