Pingtan to boost cross-Strait e-commerce sector

Due to its status as a pilot city of cross-Straits e-commerce, Pingtan, Fujian province plans to establish three centers, featuring trade, Internet finance and logistics to better promote its cross-Strait e-commerce trade, local news portal ptnet.cn reported on Dec 18.

The idea comes from a draft plan on which local authorities are working.

According to the plan, the Cross-Straits E-commerce Trade Center aims to be a reliable platform for e-commerce trade across the Straits and encourage more Taiwan e-commerce companies to expand businesses on the Chinese mainland.

The Internet finance operation center is expected to provide comprehensive services for cross-border e-commerce companies in finance, logistics, talents personnel and data.

The logistics center focuses on accelerating the construction of warehousing facilities for cross-Straits e-commerce and promoting simpler customs clearance for companies.

Local authorities explained that these three centers will get taxation, foreign exchange, quarantine and inspection departments work together and create a better business environment.

Authorities added that they expected to turn Pingtan into China's leading pilot area for cross-Straits e-commerce in the next three to five years.
