A delegation from the Chinese Association of Hong Kong & Macao Studies visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province on Nov 25. The purpose of the delegation was to gain a better understanding of the zone's latest development, ptnet.cn reported.

Li Dejin, leader of the Pingtan Party Working Committee briefed the delegation about the zone's opening up and development and said that the zone's infrastructure was gradually improved over the past five years. It aimed to turn into an international tourist island with a comfortable living environment as well as hubs of emerging industries and high-end services by taking advantage of its preferential policies as part of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone,

The delegation also learned about the zone's customs supervision and management system dubbed “Pingtan Closure” that was launched on July 15, 2014. They also toured the Business Operation Center to see the progress of its financial hub.

Some members said that they were impressed by Pingtan's development and expected that it will play a greater role in the implementation of the country's Belt and Road Initiative. They vowed to do more to enhance exchanges and operation among the three areas.
