A team of media agencies from cities along the Fuzhou-Hefei High-Speed railway visited Pingtan on July 23 to learn about its tourism resources.

The media outlets – mainly newspapers – formed a coalition following the June 28 inauguration of the railway to do extensive coverage, hosttourism forums and release tourism rankings.

Pingtan was the last stop for the journalists. They have visited other cities including Hefei, Tongling, Wuhu, Xuancheng, Huangshan, Shangrao, Nanping, Ningde and Fuzhou since July 3.

The guests were impressed by key projects in Pingtan such as the customs checkpoint, the Taiwan Business Incubator and Haitan Ancient City, and pledged to promote Pingtan’s tourism to raise its profile.

“Pingtan is a promising land for high technology and a great platform for cross-Straits youth entrepreneurship. More importantly, it has vast tourism potential,” said Xiao Ping, deputy Party chief of the Huangshan Daily.

“Like all nine cities we’ve been to, Pingtan is a glittering pearl as an emerging tourist’s destination. We will thread those ‘pearls’ together with our pens,” he added.

Other journalists agreed that Pingtan will see more tourists after the completion of the Fuzhou-Pingtan Railway in 2019.

Dubbed "the most beautiful high-speed railway in China", the Hefei-Fuzhou railway passes through Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces, connecting many well-known tourism spots such as Huangshan, Wuyuan and Wuyishan.
