A wind power museum is being planned in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone in Fujian province, authorities said.

The museum will visualize the power of wind using technology which combines sound, light and electricity. It will become an important tourist destination on the island city off eastern Fujian, according to Liu Zhenwen, an official at the Sea Island Research Center affiliated to the State Oceanic Administration.

The Center is commissioned by Pingtan’s authorities to make a preliminary design plan for the wind museum. Liu said there are two major factors to consider: location and function.

“First of all, the museum is going to be built at a proper scenic spot according to Pingtan’s tourism plan. It will be a new calling card for Pingtan’s tourism. Second, it will make full use of Pingtan’s wind power and share wind knowledge with visitors,” he said.

The museum is likely to be situated near either Junshan Mountain or Tannan Bay, sources from the Sea Island Research Center said. The final result is expected to come out soon given the location and traffic convenience.

There will be various theme areas inside the museum, with extensive information on wind, wind power and protective measures against wind disasters.
