More State-owned enterprises (SOE) in Guangdong province hope to expand business in Pingtan, Fujian province to take advantage of its preferential policies, reported the Pingtan Times.

A delegation of Guangdong SOEs visited Pingtan on July 22 to learn about Pingtan’s development and look for business opportunities.

The team was led by Zhou Xingting, deputy director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission in Guangdong.

The guests were all impressed by the tremendous changes Pingtan has gone through: from a barren land a couple years ago to one of the most dynamic economic zones in China.

They even compared some key projects, such as the business operation center and the Taiwan incubator park, to the skyscrapers in the central business district in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong.

They also showed strong interest in learning more about Pingtan’s business policies, especially tax incentives and cross-border online business.

Pingtan boasts a lot of favorable policies being both a comprehensive experimental zone and a free trade zone (FTZ), said Li Dejin, secretary of the Pingtan Party Working Committee.

He then pointed out that compared with other FTZs, Pingtan is more open to Taiwan and has a head start in cross-Straits traffic. The government strives to cut red tape in company registration, which creates a sound business climate for enterprises.

Li said he hopes visiting entrepreneurs will pass on Guangdong’s development experience to Pingtan, cooperate with local businessmen and boost Pingtan’s overall growth.
