Tourism thrived in Pingtan during Duanwu Festival Pingtan county witnessed a significant growth in tourism during the Duanwu Holiday, local news portal ptnet.cn reported, citing official figures.

A total of 22,350 tourists swarmed into the island county in Eastern Fujian from June 20 to 22, generating nearly 6 million yuan ($967,200) of revenue , said the local tourism bureau.

About 14,240 people travelled to famous scenic resorts such as the Deity’s Well, the Double-Sail Rock, the General’s Mountain and Nanzhai Mountain.

The number of vehicles driving in and out of Pingtan reached 12,000 over the three-day stretch, a 71 percent increase from last year.

The duty-free Taiwan Commodity Market held special promotions and sales to attract more visitors.
