The school in Liushui town, is the first in Pingtan to meet the provincial construction standard.

With an investment of 60 million yuan ($9.7 million), the school has a full set of supporting facilities including a computer lab, a dancing room, a digital library and multifunctional classrooms. There is also a 250-m plastic track field, football pitch, a cafeteria and eight school buses.

It has enrolled more than 1,700 children from 26 villages, and nearly 400 from the urban district .

Happiness and excellence are the philosophy of its teaching methods, according to Lin Caiying, the school’s president.

“We feel obligated to make the children happy the moment they enter the school. That is the reason they come here rather than burden themselves with too much pressure. And we try to realize that with a refreshing campus environment and a variety of after-school programs,” she said.

Pingtan authorities showed their attention to the school by opening 18 bus routes to it and other areas for the convenience of pupils.

“Other schools never had this privilege like we do, so we are very grateful for that,” said Lin.
