The young guests, between 6 to 12 years old, were invited by the Fujian Association of Helping the Disabled. For many of them, it was the first time to leave their hometown.

“Every year we organize two or three spring trips for the kids. Hopefully more volunteers will pitch in and make their life better,” said Lin Yanyan, an official of the association.

Jiang Yan, 11, said she was excited about the trip. She rarely travels because of her disability, but now she got the opportunity to see the sea for the first time.

Xiao Wei, 12, wandered on the beach with his mother and played with marine creatures.

The parents all thanked the organizer, saying it helped their children fit in society.

“Hanging out with others (with physical problems) is good for them. They are on the same page and share common interests. I believe everything will be right for them,” said Li Qin, one of the parents.

“I hope my child will learn to help other disabled people when he grows up.”
