Construction work of a large commercial plaza is underway in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) in Fujian province, local media reported on March 13.

Zun Jie Plaza is situated near the crossroad of Cuiyuan South Road and Cheng’nan Road in downtown Pingtan, taking up an area of 20,000 sq m.

The six-story building, with two and a half floors underground, will become a complex featuring commerce and catering after opening in 2016, according to a source with the project.

Workers are currently occupied with basement construction. The main structure of the building is expected to be ready in August.

“Zun Jie will become a magnet of fashionable shopping that comes with an unprecedented lifestyle, leisure and entertainment experience for people in Pingtan,” said Xue Liwen, a marketing supervisor of the plaza, adding that the authority is in discussion with many Fortune 500 enterprises such as Wal-Mart and Yum Brands in a bid to encourage them to settle in the area.
