Many ministerial officials have expressed their high hopes for the development of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) in Fujian province in meetings with visiting Pingtan leader Li Dejin in Beijing from March 11 to 13.

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) will increase its support for Pingtan in policies, projects, technologies and finance to iron out any problems that might occur during Pingtan’s exploitation. It will also organize an inter-ministerial conference to study details boosting Pingtan’s development, said Liu Sushe, director of the NDRC’s regional economy division.

The Transport Ministry will continue to assist Pingtan in its infrastructure construction especially in ports and wharfs, according to Deputy Minister He Jianzhong.

The Bureau of Maritime Affairs said it will support setting up a ship inspection agency.

Qing Shanglin, an official from the tennis administration center of the General Administration of Sport of China, added that the center will actively cooperate with Pingtan in building a tennis base, which will pave the way for Pingtan’s plan to become an international tourist destination.
