Pingtan is one of the three parts of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone, which is scheduled to be inaugurated around March.

All of the newcomers at the FTZ office have pledged to contribute to the FTZ construction using their expertise in various fields.

The following are some quotes by the officials:

Yang Zheng (deputy director of the business attraction office of the business attraction bureau of Xianyou county):

“I came here for two reasons. The first reason is to gain new work experiences, as a number of innovative policies will be implemented during the FTZ construction in Pingtan. The other is to help out. I went to Pingtan last July, and I think I now know a thing or two about it. The Pingtan FTZ is a total concept that needs a joint effort.”

Xu Guofeng (official from the financial work office of Xiuyu district of Putian city):

“I volunteered for this job. At first I wasn’t quite used to the climate here. Pingtan has a terrific plan. Hopefully we can play a role in the FTZ construction.”

Lin Sijin (staff member at the price bureau of Nanping city):

“We are a young team with a great deal of energy and passion. We should have a bigger vision of Pingtan. The FTZ office can become a big family where we can help and inspire each other.”

Tong Zhen (staff member at the Mawei division of Fuzhou customs):

“To be honest, I was concerning about my future marriage before I came to Pingtan. Yet it excited me a lot to know that I have the opportunity to work here. I will cooperate with my colleagues during the FTZ construction.”

Zeng Lanting (lecturer with the economic and management school of the Fuqing branch of Fujian Normal University):

“I am a Pingtan native, but have worked outside Pingtan for six years. This time I decided to come back to contribute to the construction of my hometown. The enormous change in Pingtan has really amazed me. I hope that I can make it better.”
