An association for cooperation between universities, enterprises and research institutes in Fujian province has been established in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone.

The Association, which has 95 members, aims to set up a platform of technological innovation combing enterprises, universities and research institutes in order to turn scientific innovations into productivity more efficiently.

An inauguration ceremony was held following a forum featuring innovation on Dec 16. Hong Maocun, former chief of the China Academy of Sciences, was appointed as the first chairman of the Association board.

The Association was jointly initiated by the Fujian Federation of Enterprises & Entrepreneurs, Fujian Industry and Economy League, Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Fujian Qilian Chaoyue Engineering Co, Fujian New Energy Technology Industry Promotion Association, Fujian Machinery Industry Association, Fujian Haixia Economic Research Institute and the Quanzhou Software Park Construction and Development Co.
