On Dec 2, Pingtan Customs and Pingtan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau implemented new policies on the examination of imported and exported cargoes, in a bid to make the clearance more efficient for local enterprises.

The two authorities have jointly developed a system for cargo declaration. The date of cargoes will be recorded only once and will be shared by the two.

Customs and the inspection bureau also carry out joint examinations on the same batch of goods. After the good are cleared, the two authorities will send messages of verification to an electronic port system to allow the enterprises to claim the cargo.

Previously, exporters and importers in Pingtan had to go through separate measures for customs inspection and the quarantine authorities. Now the new inspection mechanism will save them from such trouble.
