A delegation from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), led by Deputy Customs Commissioner-General Sun Yibiao, visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) on Nov 13 to investigate its development.

Li Deijin, director of PCPZ’s administrative committee, briefed the guests on Chinese President Xi Jinping’s inspection of Pingtan on Nov 1, attributing parts of the President’s approval of Pingtan’s opening and exploration to the excellence of its customs.

In July, the authorities officially implemented the “Pingtan Closure”, which refers to the construction of integrated customs supervision and management mechanism covering the entire Pingtan.

Based on the “Pingtan Closure”, Pingtan will strengthen its port functions and increase cross-Straits communication and cooperation. And it hopes GACC can provide support in making preferential policies, and cultivating cross-Straits sea routes as well as cross-border e-commerce, said Li.

In addition, Pingtan hopes that GACC can roll out more incentives for the duty-free Taiwan Commodity Market, and push forward cooperation between Pingtan Customs and the customs authority in Taiwan.

GACC will strive to make innovations in its services for Pingtan following the notice given by President Xi to seek more possibilities, and create a better business and living environment for Taiwanese people in Pingtan, said Sun.
