The Fujian Branch of China Development Bank (CDB) will carry out a string of measures and financial support for the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ), according to Yuan Jianliang, the Bank's chief.

Yuan led a delegation from the Bank to investigate Pingtan on Nov 4, just days after Chinese President Xi Jinping's inspection of Pingtan.

Xi used a metaphor: "grow a Phoenix tree to attract Phoenixes" in reference to improve Pingtan's infrastructure conditions. And Pingtan will optimize resources and expand financing methods to launch more key projects in industrial development, and people's livelihoods, as well as cross-Straits communication, said Li Dejin, of PCPZ's administrative committee.

President Xi is optimistic about Pingtan's future. And CDB's Fujian branch will increase its endorsement for Pingtan by "watering the Phoenix tree", said Yuan.

Talking about the financial issue Pingtan faces in its full-scale development, Yuan said the government should make more efforts to attract business, and the Bank will definitely provide financial support in various sectors in order to boost its economy.

Pingtan and CDB reached cooperation in 2012, with the Bank promoting various credit measures and financial programs, which have attracted many enterprises and overseas professionals to invest and settle in Pingtan.
