Fujian People's Congress to set up working committee in Pingtan

The standing committee of the Fujian Provincial People’s Congress has decided to set up a working committee at the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, according to a bimonthly session on Sept 26.

The working committee’s responsibilities include facilitating implementation of policies from provincial and national authorities concerning Pingtan’s development; boosting cross-Straits cooperation; promoting innovation in administrative mechanisms; better connecting the provincial people’s congress with local congress at different levels; providing guidance for the election of deputies to the local people’s congress; encouraging Taiwan people to participate in the election and the management of public affairs.

The decision to set up the working committee in Pingtan was passed after voting at the 11th meeting of the 12th Fujian Provincial People’s Congress.

The working committee in Pingtan will comprise a director, deputy directors and members. The director and deputy director will be appointed by the standing committee of the Fujian Provincial People’s Congress.
