The 101 E-commerce Co became the first enterprise engaging in e-business in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone on Sept 2.

“Our team made an inspection in Pingtan in Nov last year. First we just wanted to run some booths and sell Taiwan’s special products at the Taiwan Commodity Market,” said Zheng Jie, general manager of the company.

Their spirit got higher when Pingtan was approved as a pilot area for cross-border e-commerce in January, the first city to do so in Fujian province.

Zheng, an Australian Chinese who has abundant experience in international commerce, said the move gave him a lot of confidence in Pingtan’s promising future.

“After hearing the news, my partners and I decided to increase our investment and expand our base to an international product shopping mall, with a variety of Taiwan’s special products,” he said.

The company then came into being in June, with investment from Taiwan, the Chinese mainland and Australia.

The company is expected to move into a new office building at Shanglou village by the end of this year. It will also soon open some booths to display its products at an e-commerce zone near the Taiwan Commodity Market, according to Zheng.
