A team from the Fujian branch of China Development Bank (CDB), headed by its president Yuan Jianliang, visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) on March 25 to seek cooperation.

Li Dejin, director of the PCPZ's administrative committee, thanked CDB for supporting Pingtan's earlier construction. He said the central and provincial governments have both attached great importance to Pingtan, the Chinese mainland's first and only pilot zone opening up to Taiwan.

After several years of effort, Pingtan has improved its infrastructure conditions and is building a comprehensive transportation system and a cross-Straits marine channel. But Pingtan is still in the preliminary stage of development and lags behind in construction of financial platforms and cultivation of finance professionals. It therefore needs more support from CDB, said Li.

The CDB Fujian subsidiary bank has been paying attention to Pingtan's progress, and the two sides have a sound cooperation foundation. It hopes to assist Pingtan in cross-Straits financial cooperation and provide more financing modes and products to Pingtan, said Yuan.
