'Super moon' lights up Pingtan

The brightest moon in this year rose up in Pingtan Island, East China's Fujian province, on Sunday night, attracting lots of enthusiastic stargazers.

Ms Han's family came to the Haiyu Square for a better view at the request of her daughter, and she was among hundreds who hit the beach and took out smart phones for pictures.

The so-called super moon appeared up to 14 percent larger than normal as the perigee moon, which coincides with a full moon, swung closer to Earth, reaching its closest distance of a year on that night.
