A senior official in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Southeast China's Fujian province, visited villagers in Aoqian township on Saturday, April 27. The villagers will soon move for a land procurement project, and the official pledged to accelerate the construction of settlement houses for them, the Pingtan Times reported.

Gong Qinggai, secretary of the Party working committee of the pilot zone and director of the pilot zone's administrative committee, inspected the project headquarter as well as the construction site in the villages of Yudao, Yulou, Guangyu and Jingbian. He also solicited opinions among the villagers.

The relocation has been well underway, according to a report from headquarters.

Gong attached great importance to the accommodation of villagers who will leave their homes and move into settlement houses. He also asked officials in charge of the project to pay special attention to the elderly, the seriously ill and poor families.

Gong also underlined faster construction of settlement houses without sacrificing quality for the villagers.
