A delegation of 12 entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Guangdong and Shanghai visited Pingtan on Oct 21. Gong Qinggai, director of the administrative committee of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, met with the delegation on Oct 22.

Both sides conducted in-depth discussions regarding business opportunities brought by Pingtan's opening-up and development.

Gong extended a warm welcome to the visitors and briefly introduced Pingtan's general plans and current development process.

Pingtan's opening-up and development is a major decision by the Central Committee and State Council. Its experimental development will promote cross-Straits fusion in economy, society and culture, and explore a new model for cross-Straits cooperation.

Gong Qinggai noted that Pingtan should find a role in the international economic chain and become a financial, commodity distribution, cross-Straits logistics and physical delivery center. Pingtan is still in its early stage, but its development has a brilliant future.

"We are deeply impressed by Pingtan's speed and efficiency," said one of the delegates during a discussion with officials from Pingtan.

The delegation felt that Pingtan's opening-up and development has unlimited business opportunities. The possibilities have attracted investors from home and abroad.

The delegation also visited the pilot zone's planning exhibition hall, an integrated pipe ditch on Tanxi Road, a high-speed passenger terminal on the Taiwan Straits, and a small-volume goods trade market to Taiwan.
