Airport

The Civil Aviation Administration of China has announced to build four regional airports in Fujian province, South China, including one at Pingtan island. It will be a 4C-Grade coastal airport that can accommodate Boeing 737 airplanes. The preparatory work has started.

Port

The Pingtan port is to be built as a key component of the Fuzhou port region. It will serve as an integrated transport hub for the "Three Links – direct postal, transportation and trade links" between the mainland and Taiwan. Its main business involves ro-pax vessels, containers, and tourist transport. The Pingtan port aims to develop into a modernized one for both cargo and tourist transportation.

The port consists of four operating regions: Jinjing, Liushui , Aoqian and Caoyu. The first phase of the plan involves the Jinjing and Aoqian operating regions.

The Jinjing region is planned to develop ro-pax vessel transport, cargo transport and tourist transport across the Straits. The Aoqian region mainly serves the fishery industry, and recently has been used as an operation point for ro-pax vessel transport to Taiwan.

Four yacht ports are planned to be built on the main island at Xingfuyang, Zhuyu Seaport, Zhuyu Bay, and Ruyi Bay.

Railway

There are several railways in plan: the Fuzhou-Pingtan High-Speed Line, Taiwan-Fuzhou High-Speed Railway (Reserved), Taiwan freight railway and its branch lines.

Highway

The Yuxi-Pingtan Highway, Changle-Pingtan Highway, Taiwan Highway (Reserved) are to be built. Two A-grade passenger stations are planned to be built: the Lancheng Passenger Station and Jidiao Passenger Stations.

Three highway freight depots are in plan — Jidiao Freight Depot, Zhongyuan Freight Depot and Aoqian Freight Depot.
